Fic: Honeymoon, Kirk/McCoy, R

Title: Honeymoon
Author: caitri
Rating: R (very mild sexuality)
Pairings: Kirk/McCoy
Word count: 704
Summary: Comment-fic for jim_and_bones. Jim and Bones go skinnydipping.

Jim can’t remember the last time he felt this relaxed. The lazy late September afternoon sunshine turns everything into a kaleidoscope of greens, the warmth on his back is making him sleepy, and everything around them is just quiet with nothing but the sound of water lapping and the occasional bird or other critter in the woods. Bones was the one who started using the word ‘critter’ and every time he does Jim has to grin like an idiot, and then Bones says it again because he likes it when Jim smiles like that, he says, and oh God, they have so become one of those couples now…

They’ve been married-married two days now. Eight months since they did the official paperwork on the ship, but the real thing—in the First Baptist Church in Toccoa, right there in front of all their family and friends, and seemingly most of the small town Bones grew up in—was Saturday, and now it’s already Monday, and somehow this blows Jim’s mind.

Sighing contentedly, he nestles his head in his arms as he admires Bones swimming in the water nearby. They drove down to Lake Rabun yesterday morning, spent most of yesterday and today in the sun, and his…his husband (and Jim savors that word in his head) is starting to get awfully freckly.

Jim is a big fan of Bones’s freckles, by the way. He doesn’t have many of them, but the ones that are there are just so damn cute.

“Wanna go swimming?” Bones had asked after lunch, which had been a simple post-coital meal of sandwiches and watermelon.

“Sure,” Jim had said, and then Bones was pulling him to the dock, shucking his clothes off as he went. “Uh. What about suits?”

“What about them?” Bones had said with a grin, and that was where Jim’s brain stopped for a while. They left twin puddles of jeans and tshirts on the dock and were in that cool mountain water in seconds, playing, splashing, kissing.

The nice thing about being in an area of summer houses in the fall is that no one is around to care what they do.

Bones’s skin was warm in the water, and he pressed Jim close to him, the lines of their bodies matching up: lips to lips, chest to chest, cock to cock. Between their earlier activities and the water’s temperature, they didn’t do any more than just enjoy the feel of each other right then, so they swam leisurely instead. After a while Jim got tired of the cold, so he got back on the deck, stretching out leisurely to dry out in the warm sun.

He lies there, lids half shut in pleasure, with the sound of Bones swimming and the warmth around him, and dozes. He comes to himself when the air has turned cool, and Bones swims up to the edge of the dock. Jim bends his head down, Bones up, and the two kiss.

“Hey, you,” says Jim.

“Hey, you,” Bones says back. He smiles, an open, happy smile—the rare kind that Jim treasures and which he’s been wearing so often lately. “I’m cookin’ dinner tonight,” he adds.

“Okay,” Jim agrees, laughing. Jim doesn’t think he’s ever had as much homemade food as when he’s been at the McCoys’, but most of that has been Eleanor’s work. But Bones has been doing the cooking since they got here, all those passed-down McCoy family recipes that represent home and family to the man. Bones has already made his aunt’s cornbread (made with real corn and sour cream, which is one: delicious, and two: probably worth a heart attack itself, and the best part is that Bones hasn’t said a word about that), his Mom’s Derby pie, and Uncle Jigs’s fried chicken. Bones didn’t cook like this at the Academy, and frankly Jim would feel a little robbed if he weren’t so damn happy.

“That was easy,” Bones teases, and kisses him again.

Jim nuzzles him back, pressing their foreheads close. “Yeah, well. You’re cute when you do that paterfamilias thing, what can I say?”

That gets Bones laughing, and Jim smiles to himself.

Wedded bliss? He totally gets that phrase now.
